Lessons Learned
The tested AH capacity of D cell NICD batteries is accurate for operation of a QRP rig. The voltage drop-off is quite sudden.
Assembling a NICD battery pack the morning of Field Day is a BAD CHOICE.
When all else fails, string 200 feet of wire into the trees and put as much RF into it as possible.
When answering a CQ on SSB, being 200hz off freq (low on LSB, high on USB) increases responses greatly!
Call the stations that aren't as loud FIRST.
